Swami Muktananda Paramahamsa (1908-1982) was a yoga guru and the founder of Siddha Yoga. He was a disciple of Bhagavan Nityananda and wrote books on Kundalini Shakti, Vedanta, and Kashmir Shaivism. He is often referred to as Swami Muktananda or Baba Muktananda. Born as Krishna Rai in British India, he encountered Bhagawan Nityananda at the age of 15, which had a profound impact on his life. He studied under various teachers and received shaktipat initiation from Bhagavan Nityananda in 1947, marking the beginning of his spiritual journey. Muktananda established Siddha Yoga ashrams and meditation centers worldwide and appointed Swami Chidvilasananda and Swami Nityananda as joint leaders of Siddha Yoga. He emphasized the recognition of the divine within oneself and others. However, allegations of sexual abuse have also been made against him by some former disciples.
