Hariharananda Giri, born Rabindranath Bhattacharya in West Bengal, India, was a renowned Indian yogi and guru. He was a Kriya Yogi in the lineage of Mahavatar Babaji, Lahiri Mahasaya, Yukteswar Giri, and Paramahansa Yogananda. He received Kriya Yoga initiation from Yukteswar Giri in 1932 and later met Paramahansa Yogananda, receiving the second Kriya initiation from him. In 1938, he renounced worldly life and became an ascetic monk in his guru's ashram in Puri, Odisha. He received the third Kriya initiation from Swami Satyananda Giri in 1941. Hariharananda gained prominence and traveled outside of India, visiting Europe in 1974, South America and North America in 1975, and returning to the U.S. in 1977. He founded an ashram in Homestead, Florida, and another international headquarters in Orissa, India. Hariharananda passed away in Miami in December 2002 and was buried in Balighai, Orissa.
