Damodardev was a 16th-century Ekasarana preceptor from Nalaca, Nagaon, and a follower of Sankardeva's Ekasarana dharma order. After the death of Sankardeva, Damodardev started his own order called Brahmasamhati, which incorporated Brahmanical rituals and a stronger adherence to the caste system alongside Sankardev's namadharma. He was succeeded by Bhattadeva. Damodardev received his education in Navadwip under Kalpacandra and was inspired and influenced by Sankardeva in his religious practice. He began proselytizing in Barpeta and had a close friendship with Sankardeva, who asked him to recite Bhagavata in his Sattra and initiated him into the Mahapurushiya cult.
