About

Sadhak Ramprasad Sen was an 18th-century Hindu Shakta poet and saint from Bengal. He composed devotional songs called Ramprasadi, which are dedicated to the goddess Kali and written in Bengali. Despite working as an accountant, Ramprasad dedicated most of his time to spiritual practices and writing devotional songs. He gained recognition when Raja Krishnachandra appointed him as his court poet. Ramprasad's mystical experiences and devotion to Kali were highly regarded, even by sufi mystics and Nawab Sirajuddaula. He passed away during a Kali puja ceremony while immersed in the Ganges River, singing for Kali. Recent evidence suggests he was alive until at least 1794.
