Siddha Bhairavi temple is a shrine situated at Mantridi in Ganjam district of Odisha India.The presiding deity is the goddess Bhairavi. Carved in crude fashion, the idol features one leg and four hands.

It is said that this idol was excavated from a ploughed field. and was enshrined as such in a new temple in 1937. All the Sankranti days in every month of the Hindu calendar and Tuesdays are considered auspicious here.

SiddhaBhairavi Temple is located in a Mantridi village, Golanthara which is 20 km from Berhampur, Ganjam, Odissa.
Brahmapur Maa Bhairavi Temple is one of the 4 Adi Shaktipeethas in India. Goddess Bhairavi is the Precising deity in this 750 years old temple. Legend says that she is the deity that fishermen and sailor took blessings from before embarking on their voyages. The goddess is depicted as a stone idol with four hands and one leg.

The temple is also famous for its 108 sub-shrines dedicated to all Hindu deities. These include the Jyotirlingas, Vaishno Devi, Meenakshi, Badrinatha, Venkateshwara, Ranganatha, and even a large sanctuary dedicated to Lord Jagannath and his brothers. The devotees visit this temple to offer prayers to the gods and ask for vows and blessings. It is commonly accepted that Bhairavi Devi will accompany the Kalki avatar at the end of Kaliyuga and restore the dharma.

This temple attracts many tourists for it’s external & internal beauty. Navaratri utsav also occurred in both Aswina month & Chaitra month in this temple. More than 8 lakhs tourists and devotees come every year at that time.

The 35 feet high temple of Goddess Bhairavi is the main attraction of the place,temple which is surrounded with three funeral sites at the outskirt of its nearby villages. Ancient art and culture of Odisha can be viewed in the walls of the temple. The sculpture of the deity is situated 4 feet down the ground level. The deity has four hands and one leg, perhaps named as ‘Ek Pada Bhairavi’. The deity has been worshipped by a special kind of professional worshippers named as Malee.

The presence of sky high Kerandimala Mountains adds to the scenic beauty of the place. The other side of the mountain one can found the age old famous Ganesh Pitha named as Panchama.

There is a beautiful garden with decent flowers just at the entrance of the Temple Gate. The presence of 84 feet Jagannath Temple along side the main temple enhances the spiritual beauty of the place. The Temple House (Usa-Kothi) consisting of 108 sub shrines dedicated to all Hindu Gods including 12 Jyotirlingas and Nagagraha is another valuable attraction of the place.

 

Description: Siddha Bhairavi Temple of Ganjam

 

aa Siddha Bhairavi temple is a famous “Shakti temple” (also called shakti pitha) in Odisha. It is a sculpture of primitive mode, featuring one leg and four hands, named as “Eka Pada Bhairavi”. The temple is 18 kilometres from Berhampur and is on NH 16. This temple is located in a remote area named Mantridi of Ganjam district of Odisha.

The Siddha Bhairavi temple is 35 feet high, and the idol of the goddess is sited four feet down the ground level. It is assumed that a number of saints have got Siddhi (preservation) here by worshipping the goddess Bhairavi. So it is also known as Siddhi Pitha.

Glimpse of Prehistoric art and culture of Odisha can be seen in the walls of the temple premises. The professional worshipers, called as Malees in odisha, worship the deity.

According to the legend, the Pitha(temple) originated after the embodiment of goddess Sati Parvati, when she sacrificed herself in Yagyan of Dakshya Prajapati.  It is considered that this idol was digged out from a ploughed field. MaaBhairavi is the chief divinity of Sadhabas. The Fisherman and Sailors worship, pay respect to the goddess Bhairavi before starting their journey.

The holy place is dwelled to 108 sub temples devoted to all Hindu gods from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. There are 12 jyotirlinga sub temples, Vaishno Devi Maa temple, Dashaavatar temples, Venkateshwar temple, Ranganath temple, Meenakshi temple, Badrinath temple.

The temple is surrounded by a big garden with a variety of flowers and Turtles around. A big temple of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Shubhadra is also present in the middle and is worshiped here. As per the belief, in the end of Kaliyuga, Maa Bhairavi devi will escort Kalki Avatar in re-establishing Dharma.
