The Jagannath Mandir of Toronto is the first and only Temple in Canada, which is the prime abode of Lord Jagannath of Puri (one of the four Dhams of Hindus), his siblings Balabhadra, sister Subhadra and the Parama Shakti Sudarshana. The current deities were procured from odisa during July 2008 by GTA odia community. They initially resided at the Bharat Sevashram Sangha temple in a rented space. With the help of a large contribution from the Canadian Philanthrophist Mr. Sradhananda (Dan) Mishra, the current temple at 9893 Torbram Road was procured and the dieties of Chaturdha Murati moved in Summer of 2018. Since then dieties of Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman, Maa Kali (Bimala), Maa Laxmi (Kamala), Naba Durga, Narasimha, Nava Graha and Radha-Krishna have been added.
Now the Jagannath Mandir is functioning with three full time Priests and all important Pujas in the Hindu Calendar, are conducted. In the local community, Lord Jagannath is worshipped as “Pratyakhya”. Many many people speak of their realization of direct blessings of the Lord.
The Mandir is professionally managed under a Trust and a Board of Directors. It is a non-profit corporation with Its finances audited regularly. All its Priests not only conduct all the religious ceremonies at the Mandir, they also conduct much in demand in-house services.
All are invited to be members of the Trust and participate in its governance
