In the mid-eighties, two brothers, engineers, Everardo and Eduardo, set out in search of a land with preserved nature to be the refuge they longed for. They entered the Graúna valley and reached the valley's hinterland. There, in the mountains, they found a possession for sale. Soon, other squatters also offered their land for sale, at prices below market. Why that? These lands located at the top of the mountain, with access to a simple mule trail, were, to a large extent, occupied by banana plantations. It turns out that selling this mountain banana was extremely laborious and was not producing a satisfactory profit. Therefore, their interest was to pass these lands forward. But who would be able to look for a property with these characteristics? Only adventurers and entrepreneurs.
Arcana-marga and Setukara were his spiritual initiation names in ISKCON. After some time, they felt the need to develop a broader project, which would have been impossible to achieve alone. They then decided to form a partnership with the Hare Krishna movement, of which they were members. A small community then emerged and was called “Goura Vrindávana”.
“Vrndavana” is a very special forest_ the sacred land of Krishna. “Goura” means “golden”. It also refers to “Gouranga”, which is another name given to Sri Chaitanya, the founder of the Hare Krishna movement.
In 1997, he joined the Purushatraya Swami community, upon returning from a long period of stay in India. Since then, Goura Vrindávana has had its resident spiritual leader.
