ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) was founded in 1966, in New York, USA. But he only came to Brazil in 1973, through three disciples of Srila Prabhupada who went simultaneously to Salvador/BA, Rio de Janeiro/RJ and São Paulo/SP. Dhruvananda Dasa, born in Hawaii, USA, came to Salvador/BA, he was looking for a person who spoke English to help him spread Krishna consciousness, through an English school he arrived at the home of a young dentistry student (Dhanvantari Swami), who practiced yoga and was preparing to make his first trip to India. Still in his activities to spread Krishna consciousness, he found another young man willing to help him (Aradhya Dasa). Shortly after, Dhruvananda Dasa needed to return to the USA,
So, the idea came up to write to Srila Prabhupada asking him to send a representative to promote the spread of Krishna consciousness in Salvador/BA and Brazil. The letter sent was delivered by Srila Prabhupada to Hridayananda Dasa Goswami, one of his most important disciples. Hridayananda Dasa Goswami, visiting one of the temples in the USA, learned that he had a young Brazilian visitor (Jagad Vicitra Dasa) and sought him out to obtain information about Brazil. This young man is Dhanvantari Swami's younger brother, however, the most interesting thing is that neither of them knew that the other had contact with Krishna consciousness.
Hridayananda Dasa Goswami came to Salvador/BA, but he did not find Dhanvantari Swami who at that time was living in Brasília/DF, so Hridayananda Dasa Goswami went to Rio de Janeiro and then São Paulo, later returning to Salvador, where the movement continued firmly with weekly meetings, without interruption.
