Thiruppaarkadal Sri Alarmel Mangai Samedha Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple

The sacred vortex associated with the energy of Shravana nakshatra is located in the village of Thiruppaarkadal in Tamil Nadu, India. The name Thiruppaarkadal represents the ambrosia and nectar that comes from the milky ocean. This name exudes the energy of Lord Vishnu, who is the ruler of Shravana. Lord Vishnu manifested as Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal at this temple, where he is accompanied by his consort, Sri Alarmel Mangai.

This deity is rare as it embodies aspects of both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. A pooja for a pot-like vessel containing nectar is conducted everyday at Thiruppaarkadal. The face of the vessel represents Lord Vishnu while the neck of the vessel is Lord Shiva. This offering assists those people who have lost their faith in the divine.

Puranam

This will bring blessings to manifest one’s desires. Those receiving the darshan of Sri Prasanna Venkatessa Perumal at Thiruppaarkadal will receive the bountiful energy from all of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. It is also favorable to receive darshan on the third moon phase in order to assist the education of one’s children.

Worshipping the energy of the sacred sounds enhances a person’s hearing capacity through Divine Grace. This temple is also an auspicious place for doctors who specialize in Otolaryngology (ears, nose and throat) to worship.

Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Sri Vishnu located at Thiruparkadal Village in Vellore District of Tamilnadu. This temple is considered to be a testimony for the unity of Shaivism and Vaishnavism, where Thirumal stands on God Siva to show the world, the amalgamation of Vaishnavism with Saivism and to enlight both of them are one and the same.

Presiding Deity is called Prasanna Venkateswara Perumal. Mother is called Alarmel Mangai. The Temple follows Vaikanasa Agamam. The temple is under the administration of the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowment Board.

Those born in Tiruvonam star are advised to visit and worship in this temple on the star days, Rohini and Hastham star days and on the third day from the New Moon day called Moondram Pirai in Tamil and perform abishekam and archanas to Perumal to gain wisdom. As this star is specifically related to Perumal all pray here.

Besides Tiruvonam starrers worshipping in the temple for relief from doshas they face, others include ENT surgeons, lawyers, audio businessmen and students aspiring excellence in their academic pursuits.

Those facing problems in marriage affairs often seek the blessings of the Lord. The belief is that all efforts end in success if the devotee lights ghee lamps and performs Tulsi archanas for Perumal. They also offer garlands made of 108 turmeric pieces to Mother Alarmel Mangai Thayar for a happy marriage.

The temple is facing east with a Temple pond (Pundareeka theertham) and Dwajasthambam. Mandapam with a small two-tier raja gopuram is at the entrance of sanctum Sanctorum. The sanctum sanctorum was built with sanctum antarala and arthamandapam. The sanctum was built with pathabandha adhistana.

There is no Moortham in the koshtams. Pundareeka Vimana is on the sanctum with stucco images of Gajendra Varadhar, Dhakshinamurthy, Lakshmi Narasimha and Brahma.

Moolavar is standing on a Shiva Linga Avudayar. (it was told that Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal is standing on the Shiva Lingam to signify that Shiva and Vishnu, both are one). Two urchavars are in the sanctum, of which one will be going out for the procession. There are three entrances to see the moolavar and there is no separate Sorga vasal.

In the prakaram sannadhi for Alarmel Mangai Thayar ( a large Sri Chakra is installed in front), Andal, Navaneetha Krishnan with Bama & Rukmini, Bhakta Anjaneyar, 9 Nagadevas on a pedestal, Nagaboosana Garudalwar ( holding 9 snakes).

Maharshi Pundarika took up a pilgrimage to Vishnu temples. When he landed on this temple at Narayana Chaturvedi Mangalam, he was shocked to see Shiva in the sanctum and retreated regretting the mistake. An aged person intercepted him and told the Rishi that what he saw was the shrine of Lord Vishnu. Rishi denied.

The aged person took the Rishi to the sanctum and stood on the Avudayar as Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal and explained to him that Shiva-Vishnu were one and not different from each other. The Lord also told the Rishi that as he could not worship Vishnu in Tiruparkadal, the darshan was offered to him here. As the Lord offered his ‘Prasanna’ – darshan, the Lord is praised as Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal.

Burning the other Nakshatra pillars on that specific Nakshatra day will tune you in with the favorable activities with that star’s energy for the day.
