Nava tirupathi a spiritual odyssey of lord vishnu
Pilgrims visit these temples for easement from the inauspicious consequences of the positions of grahas in their life.

“N ava tirupathi temples are headed by 'Lord Perumal' hence there are no separate Navagraha shrine present in these temples. Nava Tirupathi Temples are a group of nine Lord Vishnu temples located between the cities of Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur in Tamil Nadu, southern India. These temples are believed to be one of the 108 holy abodes of Lord Vishnu, and it is thought that blessings of the gods can be obtained by performing Pooja in each of these nine temples. Every year, during the Tamil month of Vaikasi, a festival called "Vaikasi Utsavam" or "9 Garuda Sevai Utsavam" is celebrated in a grand manner. During this festival, the Garuda Vahana is used to transport the festival idols of the gods from all the Nava Tirupathi temples, and a palanquin carrying the idol of Nammazhvar is transported to each of the nine temples, where the appropriate "Paasurams" (poems) devoted to each of the nine temples are chanted.

The nine temples of Nava Tirupathi are:
Tiruvaragunamangai,Tiruppulingudi,Tirutholaivillimangalam,Thirukkulanthai,Thirupperai,Thirukolur,Sri Vaikuntam,Perungulam and Paramankurichi.Each temple has its own unique history and legends associated with it, such as the legend of Vijayasana Perumal at Tiruvaragunamangai, the lifting of a curse from a demon at Tirutholaivillimangalam, the story of Goddess Lakshmi at Thirupperai, and the penance of Nava Nidhis at Thirukolur.

Tiruvaragunamangai - The temple is dedicated to Vijayasana Perumal, who is seated with Varagunavalli Thayar. The hood of the serpent Adi Sesha is said to protect the presiding god.

Tiruppulingudi - Kaisinavendan, who is lying down, is the deity in charge of this temple. The glass outside the sanctum sanctorum allows visitors to see the holy feet of the god.

Tirutholaivillimangalam - According to legend, a curse was lifted from a girl and a young man who transformed from a balance and a bow. The location was named Thulaivillimangalam after this incident.

Thirukkulanthai - The presiding god here is Mayakoothan, a divine dancer. According to tradition, the Brahmin Vedarajan's daughter Kamalavathi wedded Lord Vishnu after performing penance.

Thirupperai - The temple is dedicated to Mukhil Vannan, who is depicted in a seated position looking east. Goddess Bhudevi is said to have performed penance here, leading to the location being named Sriperai (Thirupperai).

Thirukolur - According to legend, Lord Vishnu manifested as the guardian of the nine Nava Nidhis who performed penance here. The location is associated with the loss and recovery of the Nidhis.

Thirugovindha Temple - This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Govindaraja form. It is believed that worshipping here helps to overcome financial difficulties.

Thiruvaikuntam - The temple is dedicated to Lord Vaikuntanathan, who is depicted in a standing posture. The temple is believed to have been built by the Pandya King Malayadwaja Pandya.

Alwarthirunagari - The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Devathirajan. It is believed that worshipping here helps to overcome problems related to marriage. Each temple has its unique history and significance, and it is believed that worshipping in each of them guarantees the blessings of the gods. The Vaikasi Utsavam, also known as the 9 Garuda Sevai Utsavam, is celebrated in these temples every year in the Tamil month of Vaikasi.

During the Vaikasi Utsavam festival, the festival idols of the gods are taken out in procession on Garuda Vahanam, a statue of the mythical bird Garuda. The Garuda Sevai procession is one of the main attractions of the festival, where the nine temple idols are brought together in a grand procession, accompanied by music and devotees.
