Vishwaroopa Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy

The Lord holds His Sudharshana Chakra on His back left hand and bow-and-arrow on His back right hand. This indicates His intention of holding the bow and arrow in His subsequent incarnation as Lord Rama. His forehands are respectively Abhaya Hasta and Varada Hasta postures. Lord Narasimha is also known as Adhirudra in whose holy form with three eyes; the third one is in His forehead and the Adhisesha above His head with seven hoods (like the seven flames of the fire Sapta Jihva). Each hood has a crowning and sparkling Nagarathina above each head.

Installation of the Moola Vigraham of the archa-vigraha took place nearly 4 years ago on the 2nd May, 2007 on a day which was uniquely auspicious converging the twin benefits of Chitra Pournami (The Purnima/Full Moon Day of the Chitra Tamil Month) alongside with the the fact that the guiding star of the day was Swathi, the star that is dedicated to the worship of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha. The installation procedure was carried along with elaborate processes punctuated by Gata Sthapanam, Kalasa Pooja, Vasthu Homam, Prathistha Homam and other holy rituals associated with the process by dedicated vidwaks under the elite leadership of scholar Dr. Lakshmi Narayana Bhattar (Salem) and Shri K Parthasarathy Swami of Sri Rangam. This was followed by copious abhishekam (Thirumanjanam) of the archa-vigraha by cow’s milk and tender cocunut.

The devotees were thrilled at the gigantic and majestic sixteen feet tall archa-vigraha of the Lord with an amazing smile on His face. The total height of the Lord till the hoods of Adhi Sesha comes to about twenty five feet. This archa-vigraha of the Lord (“Divya Mangala Moola Vigraham”) has the distinct features that befit the descriptions in Brahma Stuthi (“Dhyana Sloka”) of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Sahasranama Stotra. As per the description, the Lord displays an extremely pleased and an amazing smiling face and posture (Athip Prasanna Vadhanam) with a very kind mood to bless all His devotees. The Lord is seated in His yogic posture with his consort Lordess Lakshmi on His left lap embracing Him with Her right hand and holding a lotus flower on Her left hand.

The temple management invites generous philanthropists of all kinds to contact them in assisting them in this very Holy service the lotus feet of the Lord. You may contact them at
