The temple of Attahas, also known as Fullora Attahas, is believed to be one of the 51 Shakti Peethas at which the body parts and jewelry of the Hindu goddess Shakti fell to Earth.The goddess is so large that the lower lip is about 15 to 18 feet wide. The temple is a site of Hindu pilgrimage throughout the year. December is a particularly popular time for visitors to picnic at the site.Attahas Sanskrit comes from Atta and Hasa (laughter) meaning extreme loud laughter. The temple of Attahas is considered as a Shakti Peetha. Shakti Peethas are shrines that are prominent places of worship for the Shakta sect (Shaktism) of Hinduism.

These are places where the body parts of Sati Devi's corpse fell when Lord Shiva carried her body after her death. The place where her body parts fell were enshrined by the divine presence of Shakti. The story of origin is the mythology of Daksha yaga and Sati's self immolation. The Lips of Sati Devi is said to have fallen here. Each Shakti Peetha has a name for the Shakti an Kalabhairava associated with the temple. The Shakti of the Attahas shrine is addressed as Phullara and the Kalabhairava as

ishvesh. There are 51 Shakti Peeth linking to the 51 alphabets in Sanskrit.

 

 

Puranam

It is believed that the statue of the temple was in the temple till 1915. After that, original Idol was kept in the Museum of 'Bangiya Sahitya Parishad'. This statue was made of metal. After the re-installation of the statue, the idol was robbed.This temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Mother. In this temple, Shakti is worshiped as 'Fulala' and Bhairav ??is worshiped as 'Vishwarwar'. An inscription of Terracotta (Shila Lippi) was also found in the place. Research on the script of this inscription is still going on. It is expected that if this inscription is properly read, the correct information about the Attahas Temple can be obtained.

Varnam

 

The temple is situated at 350 meters above sea level. There are two statues of Goddess Parvati. One is Bhavani, and the other one is Devi Sati. The stucco-styled images are highly impressive. There is a separate shrine for Lord Shiva, where he is revered as Lord Chandrasekar. This temple is built using marbles and has beautiful art and decorations. The temple is believed to be 5000 years old and has been renovated recently.

Sevas

 

All the festivals are celebrated in the Athasan Shaktipeeth, especially the special puja on the festival of Shivratri, Durga Puja and Navaratri. During these festivals, some people keep fasting (do not eat food) as a respect and dedication to God's worship. In the days of the festival, the temple is decorated with flowers and lights. The spiritual atmosphere of the temple provides peace to the heart and mind of the devotees.
