Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy

ri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is located in Tharigonda village in Chittor District, Andhra Pradesh. Tarigonda Vengamamba who was born here brought fame to her village. There are three sasanas in this temple; the first one of 1559 A.D. by Vijayanagar emperor Sadasivadeva Maharaya. It is about the emperor’s permission for giving tax remission to Jillela Vengala Rajadeva Maharajamangali and Mahamandale Swara Ramarajadeva Maharaya giving his consent for it. It shows that the temple was built in 1557 A.D. itself.

According to the second sasana of 1846 A.D the Homasala and the kitchen pavilion were built by Errappa the disciple of Guru Bhaskaracharya. The third sasana is of 1862A.D; Krishnama Setty built a Kalyana mandapa i.e. pavilion for the celebration of God Lakshmi Narasimha’s wedding.

It came to light that sir name of Rayadurgam Ramanayanims has changed to Tarigonda. On migrating to Chittecherla near Bhakarapeta they came to be known as Chittecherla Palegarlu in later times.

In 1940 a prominent vysya installed the idol of Vengamamba in the Lakshmi Narasimha temple. The nine-day Brahmotsavas are celebrated in great splendor here.

Tarigonda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Timings: 6.00 AM to 9.00 PM

Tarigonda Narasimha Swamy Temple Dress Code:

There is no particular Dress Code for the temple, but one has to compulsory wear Descent clothes.

Tarigonda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple History

Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Idol was installed by Sage Dhurvasa, he also established Dharma Peetam using his spiritual powers.

During the Chola period, there lived a cowherd by the name of Ramanaidu in ChittiCherla near BakaraPeta, who used to take Cattle to the Tari Kunda forest area for feeding. One fine day, during the process of taking cattle to Tari Kunda forest, he found the Idol of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy in a nearby cave, which is South of Tari Kunda Village. Rama Naidu then built the Temple for Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. Gradually Thari Kunda turned into Tarigonda.
