<p><em><strong>Tinospora cordifolia</strong></em> (common names <strong>heart-leaved moonseed</strong>, <strong>guduchi</strong> or <strong>giloy</strong>, among others) is a herbaceous vine of the family Menispermaceae indigenous to tropical regions of the Indian subcontinent.It has been used in Ayurveda to treat various disorders, but there is no clinical evidence that it is effective.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>The tree is associated with Lord Shiva. The Sanskrit name – Amrita, is one of the thousand and eight names of the Lord.</p>
