History

In India, the kadamb tree has a sacred status. It is grown on the grounds of religious institutions as a symbol of religion. Hinduism holds this tree in high regard, and there are many superstitions associated with it.

Lord Krishna liked to play his flute under the Kadamb Tree, which is why it is known as the tree of Krishna. All of his boyhood pursuits, including jumping in the Yamuna, dancing with gopis, and climbing trees, took place under or close to the Kadamb tree. Also this tree is believed to be related to Mata Lakshmi. It is believed that by doing sadhna-worship sitting under the Kadamba tree, one gets the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. As a result, Kadamb tree blooms are presented at various temples.
