Hagiography

Morari Bapu, also known as Moraridas Prabhudas Hariyani, is a renowned Indian spiritual leader and preacher from Gujarat. He is widely recognized for his discourses on Ramcharitmanas, a Hindu scripture, delivered in various cities in India and abroad.

Born on September 25, 1946, in Talgajarda village near Mahuva, Gujarat, Morari Bapu hails from a family that follows the Nimbarka Sampradaya, a Hindu Vaishnava tradition. His grandfather, Tribhovandas Hariyani, served as his guru and taught him Ramcharitmanas at a place now known as Chitrakutdham. During his school years, he memorized the chaupais (couplets) of Ramcharitmanas while traveling to his primary and secondary schools.

Work Done

Morari Bapu began giving discourses on Ramcharitmanas at the age of 14, under the guidance of Ramfaldas Maharaj, during a nine-day discourse in Dhanfulia village. Since then, he has conducted over 800 Ramkathas, each spanning nine days and focused on a specific verse from Ramcharitmanas. He has also delivered discourses on the revered Gopi Geet, dedicating seven days to each verse. His discourses, known as kathaas, are delivered in Gujarati and Hindi and have taken place in various countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Kenya, Cambodia, and Vatican City.

Morari Bapu advocates for progressive norms in the 21st century and emphasizes the importance of reaching out to the marginalized and exploited segments of society, similar to how Lord Rama connected with the neglected Shabris, Nishads, and Sugareevas of his time. He has organized Ram Katha events among sex workers in Ayodhya, pledging significant amounts for their welfare. However, this has garnered criticism from some Hindu religious and spiritual leaders.

Morari Bapu has actively supported the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya and has made substantial financial contributions toward its construction. He has also been involved in philanthropic activities, including aiding the families of deceased army personnel, donating to the victims of the Uttarakhand floods, supporting the Sree LalluBhai Arogya Mandir in Gujarat, and raising funds for cancer patients and kidney research institutes.

Morari Bapu's discourses and philanthropic efforts have made a significant impact on society, and he continues to inspire and spread spiritual teachings through his kathaas.
